Joy isn’t on payroll. Protect your mindset—and watch your reality level up.
Hey, what's up? Thank you so much for tuning in to level up your reality. I'm your host, LA. This podcast is about changing your mindset to change your reality. And today we are talking about not letting your nine to five steal your joy. Because listen, a job can take your time, but it should never take your peace, your identity, or your purpose. Too many of us walk into work already drained, already defeated, already shrinking ourselves. But your joy, your creativity, your spirit, that's yours. It's not on payroll. It's not up for negotiation. And today we're talking about how to protect it, reclaim it, and walk into work like the highest version of yourself, not the version that's just surviving each shift. Let's get it. Not too long ago, I had a conversation with someone who is a web developer. And he says, I'm tired of my job. I work 60 plus hours a week. My brain is fried when I get off work. And I said, I bet. He says, but it doesn't bring me joy anymore. And what brings me joy, I won't make a lot of money doing it. And I said, What's that? He says, a massage therapist. And I said, if that's what brings you joy, do it. You don't have to quit your job, like, you know, right away. But I believe in following what your heart desire is. I believe in following your joy and what makes you happy. I feel like we're not used to our souls being happy or at peace because we're so used to chaos. Like our nervous system is shot every day. And most of the time it comes from our jobs. So I told him there's a lot of people out there, lawyers, doctors, who fell out of love with what they once did. And what they want to do now doesn't make much money. But who's to say that you won't? You know, there are people who turn their hobbies into profitable businesses during COVID. They had the time to sit, figure out what it is that they want to do because they found this peace from not going to work. They like, yo, I ain't going to work. I ain't got to go to work. This is this feels good. I want to stay at home. So what they did was found their passion or took that hobby to the next level and turned it into a profitable business. And you can do that too. You know, now I know everybody can't monetize their hobbies, but you can find some balance with work, your work life, and your hobbies. We are creative beings. We should be creating. It could be cooking, it could be painting, it could be a lot of different things. Um, and I feel like creating brings our soul a certain type of peace. So don't be ashamed if you want to quit your job with a nice ass paycheck and do something that you love to do because you never know. The universe will definitely provide. Step outside of your comfort zone because the universe loves that. Like, oh, I ain't gotta shift nothing. I don't have to shake you up for you to step outside of your comfort zone because you're doing it yourself. All right, let me reward you. So, yeah, don't let society get to you. Do what you love to do. When did these jobs become our identity? Like, stop asking me what I do for a living so you can judge me. No, you know what I'm saying? Like, no, I am a whole being outside of work. You are a whole being outside of work. We've been so programmed, it's really crazy. Because for a lot of us, our identity has been tied to our our job title and how much money we make. Just think about this. What if we woke up one day and shit was just trashed? And what I mean by that, jobs, everything, like the world fell apart. You don't have a sense of who you are because your job is tied to your identity, and the job is no longer. I be sitting around thinking about shit like that. So, and and I low-key be wishing there would be a mass walkout on your job day. Because these companies, they be trying it and they do get away with it. A lot of us don't read the employee handbook, a lot of us are scared that they are going to retaliate against us, get fired. But you know who's not scared? Gen Z. They don't they could give two shits. They calling out of work, they don't feel guilty for calling in, calling out sick, knowing they're not sick, they don't feel guilty for taking PTO, they don't feel guilty for telling the manager exactly how they feel. They have the mentality of this is just a job, I'll find another one. You know the people out there who go from job to job because they believe that this is just a job, I'm gonna get another one next week. They have a new job, and you're looking like, yo, how you find this job? How you get this job? How you find that? And I can't even come across a job like what? All in the mindset, all in the mindset and Gen Z. Shout out to Gen Z. No, I'm not saying go out and quit your job. I'm not I'm not one of those people that would be like, quit your job. Don't don't do that. What you can do is create an exit plan. What you can do is find ways to ground yourself and protect your peace and reclaim your power. In the morning, I meditate. I pray before I go to work. I do those things regardless of me going to work or not. I'm always grounding myself before work. I take my break at work, and if I feel too overwhelmed, I'm definitely gonna go to the bathroom and pray, meditate for a little bit. You gotta find ways to quarantine yourself. Also, don't be overgiving at work because if you overgive at work, your employer, they're gonna take it. They're not gonna be like, oh, you know, let me look out for such and such, because such and such is just working there, working their ass off. Like, no, they don't care. They don't care. So you have to create those boundaries for yourself. Another way, don't take your manager's mood personal, don't take your coworker's mood personal. Try not to absorb that energy, stay into your own energy. You can decide how you show up at work. You decide how much access work gets to your emotions. What you believe about yourself matters more than what a boss sees. Your job can ask for your time, but it doesn't get your spirit, it doesn't get your joy. You deserve a life filled with joy, creativity, peace, and expansion, not just work. So go into your week, remembering this. Your joy is not on payroll. You get to protect it, you get to prioritize it, and you get to level up your reality every single day. Your job pays you, but it doesn't get to own your energy. You can work a nine to five and still live a joyful, aligned, expansive life. Your mindset is the real boss, so you gotta protect it. Thanks so much for listening.
